A district representative asks for a grant to promote Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) classes. AEL classes are held at high schools in the area to increase the communication skills of adults in the community.

Dr. Eric Knost, superintendent, starts off the board meeting by talking about particular students and their accomplishments. He mentions a middle school student who hacked into his family’s router to expose bugs that were later fixed by the Wi-Fi provider.

Dominque’ Paul, director, mentions that this term will be her last serving on the school board as she has decided not to run for re-election. Following her announcement, Paul received compliments and congratulatory remarks from her coworkers.

Loralee Mondl, vice president, and Dr. Keith Kinder, director, recognize the donation efforts towards some Rockwood schools. They mention that $14,000 was recently donated to the Rockwood Summit High School Parent Staff Organization.

A representative from Relay for Life presents a proposal to increase awareness for the fight against cancer by declaring March 24 “Power of Purple Day”. The proposal was passed and thus urges teachers and students to wear purple-colored attire on March 24. The Relay for Life event will be held at Marquette High School on March 24 — an event that raised over $100,000 just last year.
