Kate Jesperson, senior, is the features editor for the Marquette Messenger and it is her third year on staff. Besides newspaper, she participates in Tri-M, RSD Lives and Symphonic Orchestra. She also enjoys spending her time mountain biking, rock climbing and skiing.

During today’s eclipse, only 98.3% of the sun’s visible light will be blocked, so the sky won’t darken. Wearing solar eclipse glasses was highly recommended to protect viewers’ eyes.

The Girl Scouts are collecting new or gently used children’s books to benefit the Assistance League of St. Louis From Friends program. Donation boxes will be at MHS from April 24 to May 5. “Exposure to reading and learning new things is beneficial to everyone and so seeing these book drives and free libraries around town is really amazing and beneficial to all families,” Brittany Sharitz, librarian, said.
