MHS students should expect a change in lunch schedules for the 24-25 school year. Next year, instead of four lunch shifts, there will be three. “I like the three lunch shift idea because on A-Days there is such an imbalance of classes and we always end up doing something in fourth hour that the other classes don’t get to,” Sen said.

The MHS chapter of Future Business Leaders of America is hosting a shoe drive for 60 days to benefit their organization and those in need in developing countries. FBLA will earn money for every pound of shoes collected.

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club is hosting a shoe drive until Friday, Nov. 17.

FBLA, an international organization that is open to any students interested in the field of business, is working with the Funds2Orgs foundation, which will pick up the shoes from MHS and facilitate the next steps in delivering the shoes to developing countries. Every pound of shoes donated adds to the money FBLA will receive from the drive.

Crystal Strate, FBLA club sponsor, said the campaign lasts a total of 60 days.

“Lots of time for people to clean out their closets and gather shoes,” Strate said. “The drive will be a great way for us to get the money we need for the state and national competitions.”

Strate also said the shoes need to be in wearable condition.

“You drop the shoes off at one of the boxes outside the Welcome Center or Library, and we will do the rest,” Strate said.

Senior Sophie Chang, FBLA president, has been involved in organizing the drive.

“FBLA is business-oriented,” Chang said. “And part of that involves charity. That’s why I wanted to do this drive.”

Chang said she would love to have 150 pairs of shoes donated by the end of the drive.

“I’m hoping that a lot of people donate shoes because these shoes will go to developing countries, which can make an impact internationally,” she said.

Senior Brock Wrisberg, vice president of membership for FBLA, said FBLA was drawn to the drive because of the shared benefit.

It’s really mutually beneficial, not only for our club but also for the community as well.”

“We connected with this foundation because not only will we be able to gain funds for FBLA to make operations more smooth, but it will also be for a really good cause,” Wrisberg said. “It’s really mutually beneficial, not only for our club but also for the community as well.”
