Anika Talyan, senior, is the Copy Editor for the Marquette Messenger. This is her fourth year on staff. At MHS she is involved in Robotics and RSD Lives. In her free time, she enjoys reading, swimming, playing the guitar and hanging out with her friends.

Layla Torgoley, college counselor, looks at food from the MHS Food Pantry while wearing a sweatshirt she created to support the pantry. Torgoley has created shirt designs for the guidance office before but after excitement and support from other staff members, she opened the shirt orders to the entire school. Torgoley is donating a portion of her proceedings to the MHS Food Pantry. “Our Food Pantry is in need of some extra assistance. So we thought we could donate to that,” Torgoley said.

Niko Kilo, senior, and his teammate, Willem Hummel, are running a 5K as they pass a boy during the Hazelwood cross country meet on Oct. 7. As they passed the boy, they secured the Varsity cross country teams 1st place in the meet. Kilo placed 6th in the race, and Hummel placed 5th. We gave it our all, Kilo said.

Adam Cohen and Shon Sayfunddinov, Baryon members, compete in the quarterfinals with their alliance partners, The Red Hot Techie Peppers. They competed against the Luxons, whose alliance partners were the Robot Warriors. The Baryons’ team won with the points being 80-53. Cohen has been in robotics since his freshman year and is now the head documenter. He thought that driving is one of the most fun parts of robotics. “Its just really fun to go out there and compete with the other teams and see what people can do,” Cohen said.
