Tonight MHS varsity soccer plays in the first round of district games against Desmet Jesuit High School.

Last time the boys played Desmet, they lost 1-0 in double overtime.

Matt Wagoner, senior, recalls the game.

“We gave up a soft goal and just didn’t finish the chances we were given,” Wagoner said.

The team is trying to stay focused through the day to help prepare them for the game.

“I’m eating a good lunch and drinking lots of water,” Wagoner said. “I’m trying to stay mental locked in.”

Coach Chris Kenny, head varsity coach, is cautiously optimistic about the game.

“I think it will be a close game that comes down to a few key plays,” said Coach Kenny. “It’s the team who makes the fewest mistakes.”

David Khoury, senior, also is optimistic about the game.

“We know we have to fight to win but we’re confident we can get the right results,” said Khoury.

The game tonight is at MHS at 7p.m. The winner of tonight’s game will play Thursday, October 30th against the winner of CBC and Parkway North.
