New Clothing Brand on the Rise

Over the summer, Clayton Owens, junior, started his own clothing company called Pacifica.

After modeling for a few clothing companies, he wanted to be on the production side of the business.

“I like wearing preppy clothes, so I wanted to start making and selling them too,” Owens said.

To start the business, he saved up money from working at Pet Supplies Plus, but he doesn’t work there anymore because keeping up with Pacifica takes up most of his time.

“I usually spend about one to two hours a day dealing with the company,” Owens said. “The website, photography, and shipping take up a ton of time.”

Owens has many people who help him out, especially his brother, who is the photographer. Clayton also has a website designer and a lawyer.

One might wonder how a 17-year-old can pay for all that, but Clayton said he started making profit about a month ago.

“Right now I’m selling to mainly friends and family,” Owens said. “My main advertising is through social media like Instagram and Twitter.”

Clayton has also made some big shipments to Cape Girardeau, Florida, and California for his friends who live there and also for friends of those friends.
