Whether it’s for sports, family, or just vacation, many people travel somewhere during the summer. In the case of MHS students, some individuals spent their time under playing sports somewhere other than Missouri.

Juniors Brendan Glock and Turner Cook both played for the Rawlings Tigers Baseball Club this past summer and traveled to Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

“It is very challenging because we get to play future major league prospects and kids from other states,” Glock said.

The boys do not just play baseball during their out of town trips. When they are not on the field, they enjoy other team bonding activities.

“We enjoy playing FIFA 14 and card games when we are not playing,” Cook said.

While in Texas for eight days, the Tigers were introduced to good competition.

“Beating a number one seed with a 94 mph pitcher was a highlight of our Texas trip,” Glock said.

Also during the summer, the Mystique team traveled to Louisville University for a dance camp. The team spent five days traveling by charter bus for a five-and-a-half hour drive.

“It is a fun bonding time with the team because the whole team has to work together and we all become closer,” Marissa Mabry, junior, said.

JV Mystique got first in home and team routine, met top national winners, learned new dances and competed against other schools.

“Camp is a great way to start the season,” Mabry said. “Traveling, for some reason, brings us together more than other team experiences mainly because the bus ride is so fun.”
