Letter to the Editor: Study hall should allow for more freedom
October 16, 2015
In regards to the article “Study Hall Changes” I agree students should be given more freedom during their STUDYING period. With the school being so strict on an hour that’s supposed to be relaxing and helpful, it just ends up leaving more stress and anxiousness. According to The U.S. Department of Education, “Used to support both teaching and learning, technology infuses classrooms with digital learning tools, such as computers and handheld devices; expands course offerings, experiences, and learning materials; supports learning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; builds 21st Century skills; increases student engagement and motivation; and accelerates learning.” With an increase of Google Classroom and other online resources, there is a need for students to go online to complete their assignments. To continue to help engage students in learning, study hall should allow students more freedom to do whatever needs to be able to carry on throughout their day.
