Girls basketball routs rival Lafayette on Friday

Last night the Lady Mustangs basketball team beat their rival, the Lancers, 57-43 in front of a white-out crowd.

The first half was evenly matched with a score of 10-10 after the first quarter. To finish the half the Mustangs led 19-18.

“We knew it was going to be an even match and to work hard. We were all very excited for the rivalry,” junior, Jenny Kohl, Lancers captain said.

The third quarter started with high intensity as senior Lauren Lottmann, captain scored a three pointer for the Mustangs.

“I knew that I needed to step up and get the momentum going for the rest of the half,” Lottmann said.

The fourth quarter started with Marquette leading 41-28 and kept their momentum up to win 57-43.

The lady Mustangs have 10 regular season games left and senior Jessie Dunlap, captain said that their season is “on the uphill.”

“We’ve been more consistent lately and if we keep playing better each game we’ll have a good season,” Dunlap said.
