The Silver Skate returns to MHS
Last night at Hardee’s Iceplex the rival teams, the Mustangs and the Lancers, faced off in the Silver Skate game with the Mustangs winning 3-2.
“We’ve lost a couple games and its been a rough couple of years but we finally beat them,” Adam Mohrmann, senior said.
The first period was scoreless, but the Mustangs picked up speed when Brant Thorson, senior, scored within the first 10 seconds of the second period.
The second period ended with Lafayette up 2-1.
In the third period Garrett Zombo, junior, scored to tie it up 2-2 for the Mustangs.
“I was excited to tie the game up and to keep going,” Zombo said.
Later in the third period Mohrmann put away the winning goal for the Mustangs to ensure them the Silver Skate.
For the rest of the season the Mustangs expect “hard work and hope to go into the playoffs with a winning record,” Zombo said.
