Student Spotlight: Eleanor St. George

Eleanor St. George, junior, travelled thousands of miles, flew over oceans and parts of continents, in order to attend MHS.

St. George is a transfer student from the “Down Under”, she arrived in the U.S on August 15th as a part of the American Field Study (AFS) program.

She is currently staying with her host parents and sisters, the Censky’s. Emma Censky, junior, has helped St. George adjust to the new environment.

“Having Emma makes everything a whole lot easier,” St. George said. “She’s a legend.”

She said the adjustment hasn’t been too bad, although the first couple of weeks were a little difficult for her.

“At first, it was hard, mostly because I didn’t really know anyone but now I have met a lot of people, made friends, and I enjoy my classes,” St. George said.

St. George said her teachers have, especially been accommodating and understanding as she adjusted.

St. George said she has enjoyed her stay in the U.S and she is hoping to extend her stay for the rest of the school year.

“At the moment, I’m only staying for five months. I’m supposed to leave on January 18th, but if my parents agree then I might be able to stay and finish the rest of the year out,” St. George said.

But, St. George said she still misses something from home, like her friends, family, and food.

“I was looking through the pantry the other day and was trying the fdind Shapes, which are biscuits that I really miss,” St. George said.
Also she said she misses starting school at 8:30 instead of 8:10, but all in all, St. George said her stay here has been a great experience so far.
