Athlete Profile: Claire Krofft
Claire Krofft, senior, is one of the six girls on the water polo team. Krofft has played water polo for MHS every year that she has been in high school.
Krofft had never played water polo before high school. She was encouraged to play by seniors that she knew when she was a freshman.
“I thought it looked fun and interesting,” Krofft said.
Krofft is also on the Girls swim team. She said that Girls swim season is a lot of fun, while water polo season is very focused.
Krofft said that she likes the cooperative aspects of water polo, which involves working together as a team to compete in games, rather than competing individually like in swimming.
“It’s a lot more of a team sport than swimming,” Krofft said.
Krofft also said she likes the variety involved in water polo season. Along with swim training, water polo practice also includes working on plays, running drills, and training in the weight room.
Krofft said she thinks that the water polo teams will do well this year. Krofft and other players said that the varsity water polo team hopes to place in the top five in the state.
