Amanda Song, senior has been practicing art since she was in elementary school. Her love for art grew when she entered high school and took Art Fundamentals.
“I like being able to express my feelings through my artwork, and not being so confined to words,” said Song.
Throughout her four years of high school Song has been enrolled in, Art Fundamentals, Painting I and II, Photography I and II, Drawing, AP Art Studio, and AP Art History.
Song participates in a program called New Art in the Neighborhood. The program helps young artists in the area create a portfolio. A selective group of young artists come together every Saturday to create and meet with visiting artist.
“Amanda’s work is very unique to herself. She likes painting out of the bound type of stuff,” said Chelsea James, senior.
During her Junior year of school Song entered a competition that resulted in getting her photography published by The Photographer’s Forum.
Song has been looking at schools across the nation including Pratt, School of Visual Arts, Maryland Institute College of Art, and School Art institute of Chicago. Her overall goal is to major and have a career in graphic design.
