Reece Foreman, junior, went to the Harry Style concert with her friend, Olivia Holt. Foreman has gone to four concerts in the past few months. “Concerts give me so much serotonin and I really recommend going to one with your friends,” Foreman said.

At the most calm concert she’s been to, Reese Foreman, junior, swayed her body when Beach House performed in Kansas City.

“No one was yelling or dancing crazily, just swaying bodies,” Foreman said. “Dim lights and pretty colors, it was really beautiful.”

Foreman has attended four concerts in the past few months: Harry Styles; Playboi Carti; Tyler, the Creator; and Beach House.

Despite attending many concerts, Foreman said she wishes there were more concerts in St. Louis and finds it to be overlooked in comparison to bigger cities such as Los Angeles or New York City

“Our crowds are always so hyped and upbeat,” Foreman said. “I definitely think there should be more, especially with smaller bands.”

Foreman said she opts for floor seats, so she can stand and dance. She lives for concerts because of the energy dancing and singing with people brings her.

The concert experience is the happiest experience for me.

“The concert experience is the happiest experience for me,” Foreman said. “When they are right in front of you and you can really hear their voice, it’s so surreal.”

Experience at concerts can be different depending on the genre and artist, but the overall experience of seeing your favorite artist on stage is shared.

Carlos Vences, junior, saw Tyler, the Creator concert on Feb. 18 and said his concert experiences vary by venue.

“My favorite venue is the Pageant because the sound is amazing, and it’s medium size, so you still feel close to the artist,” Vences said.

For Vences, the crowd is his favorite part of concerts.

Being able to see an artist in person and being in a room filled with people who love the same songs as you is really a special feeling I can’t describe.

“Being able to see an artist in person and being in a room filled with people who love the same songs as you is really a special feeling I can’t describe,” Vences said. “You get to be around a lot of like minded people and be united with strangers through a shared deeply personal thing like music.”

Nia Ovcharova, junior, saw Trippie Redd over the summer and Tyler, the Creator recently. Ovcharova buys her tickets online and said that buying concert tickets can be exhausting because you have to wake up early.

Set an alarm and wake up early to get your tickets when they’re on presale, because after that they’re expensive, and they sell out quickly,” Ovcharova said.

While Ovcharova loves seeing her favorite artist, she said the experiences can be tainted by a pushing crowd and people who don’t use deodorants.

Ovcharova would describe concerts as “stinky, sweaty fun.”
