‘World of Jenks’ inspires audience, insightful

    Finally MTV airs something inspiring.

MTV is known for showing explosive reality shows and a few music videos every once in a while, but not much else. Recently though, shows such as “The Buried Life” and “If You Really Knew Me” have aired and become huge hits. The latest inspiring, meaningful show is “World of Jenks.”

“World of Jenks” is a documentary-style show that features 24-year-old filmmaker Andrew Jenks and his quest to learn more about humanity. Jenks spends a week with a person that lives a different lifestyle than the typical person.

The series premiere aired in September and featured Jenks diving into the life of a rapper named Maino. Jenks spent a week with Maino and experienced his everyday life. The world of a rapper proved to be difficult. Jenks experienced a trip to Miami, a visit with Maino’s old friends, and a concert.

The Maino episode was inspiring but the second episode definitely overshadowed it. The second episode showed the life of a man with autism and his daily struggles to be a normal adult.

Jenks stayed with Chad, a 20-year-old man with autism, for eight days. Jenks and the audience soon figured out that Chad has many issues he must face every day. The episode was humbling and made me think twice about complaining or giving up when something difficult came up.

“World of Jenks” is the most inspiring show, aimed at the high school age group, that’s been on MTV in a long time. The show demonstrates to everyday people how others live and struggle. Jenks is a very talented filmmaker that has dedicated a lot of time to showing people how others live.

The show has a fantastic story week after week and it’s the most inspiring show on television.
