Mookie the Mustang will be played by three different MHS students this year.

“We have a Mookie One, Mookie Two, and Mookie Three,” sophomore principal Michael Mcgehee said.

Mcgehee was once the Energizer Bunny during his brother’s professional racecar event and will be helping the Mookies get into character.

“When I saw that Mookie the mustang, our mascot, falls under my student leadership committee, I was very excited because I have that personal experience as a mascot,” Mcgehee said. “I’m really looking forward to the mystery students that are going to be Mookie this year.”

He said the Mookies are going to get together on game days and talk about how to be the best mascots they can be.

“People don’t realize it can be a very difficult job both mentally and physically,” Mcgehee said.

Mcgehee said when he was a mascot, people would rush up to him, slap him on the back, and he would become the center of a mob.

“Mookie is going to bring our crowd excitement to the next level,” Mcgehee said.

Mookie One said having more than one Mookie and keeping the identities of Mookie a secret is for the best.

“Three different Mookies will keep the mystery alive,” Mookie One said. “Mookie will just appear to have weight fluctuations.”

Mookie One said he hopes to ramp up the crowd’s excitement during games.

“I’m definitely going to dance and it’ll be great,” Mookie One said.

Mookie Two said his spirited soul will help him lead Stang Gang. Like Mookie One, Mookie Two will also dance, specifically doing the worm to cheer on teams.

There are only a few things Mookie cannot do including speaking and twerking.

“They told us we cannot twerk, but I’m going to fight that one,” Mookie One said.

Mookie Two agreed.

“I’m probably gonna twerk and get kicked off the Mookie squad,” Mookie Two said.
