This week’s athlete of the week, Michael Cooper, junior, leads the varsity football team in tackles with 32 overall.

                An inside linebacker he is helping push the MHS team along to victory. Not only does he have the most tackles, but he also won the all-academic team athlete, which is an award for keeping up his grades and school work as well as being a big part of the team.

                “He works on and off the field and is a competitive and hard-working player,” Cal Rankin, junior and teammate, said. “He has been a huge help to the team and his grades are impressive.”

                Cooper, however, said that it’s not just him, and the football teams motto “it’s a mentality” is true to the team this year and is being applied daily. “All of the juniors are stepping up, not just me,” Cooper said. “Our entire defense is doing great this year, were top-notch.”
