Really, Marquette? Ellen Douglass and Ted Hayes share their thoughts

Hello Marquette, it’s Ted and Ellen back yet again with a brand new issue of Really Marquette? Although we were gone for awhile, you can rest assure we’re back for the rest of the year, well the two issues we have left.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane. Who remembers the classic Nickelodeon show “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” Even though lesser-quality shows flood the network currently, we will never forget how scared the show made us. But one thing scares us even more than those spooky stories: the dim-lit parking lot.

Really Marquette?

Anyone who leaves school after dusk knows what we’re talking about. Is it just us or is the parking lot lacking in proper lighting? Nothing is more frightening than seeing your lonely car parked in the distance. And there are no lights along the way. And while a good scare is fun now and then, I’m not in the mood to feel like I’m walking through a haunted house on my way out to my car at 5:30 p.m.

So remember students, if you’re

leaving school after 7 p.m., have some mace on hand because you never know who will be lurking in the shadows.

You know what else really gets to us, MHS? Our pesky website.

Really Marquette?

Don’t get us wrong, we love the new layout. Rockwood really stepped it up here, but is it necessary to open a new screen after every link we click on? Even something simple as logging onto Infinite Campus has become quite the hassle.

More screens popped up from trying to find the portal than if a Trojan virus infected Ellen’s computer. Someone needs to fix that, stat!

We love the new green trend happening right now. To us, recycling is extremely important and we appreciate the extra bins Rockwood has purchased specifically for water bottles and soda cans. But as Ellen and I were walking home, we noticed a cluster of these bins located by the gym.

Really, Marquette?

I don’t know how many papers Teams Sports C needs to recycle, but we’re guessing not that many. If we’re talking about the initiative as a school to try and be greener, what purpose does it serve to have the bins locate by the gym? We can’t tell you how many times we have seen students chuck water bottles into a trash can because a recycling bin wasn’t around. Instead, these extra bins should be placed in the lunch room where they are needed, not by the gym to be forgotten about.
