What: The donations will be going to Rockwood families in the Eureka High and Rockwood Summit area most affected by the floods. “The great thing about our fundraising efforts is that every penny of it is going to those families,” Ashley Hobbs, co-sponsor of relief program, said.

Hobbs and Amy Doyle, co-founder of relief program, are also selling t-shirts to raise money. The shirt sells for $10 in two colors: navy and sky blue.

When: “We’re collecting all week,” social studies teacher Hobbs said. “Monday through Friday, everyday before school, at lunch, and during fifth hour.”

Where: Students will be at every entry to MHS in the mornings, as well as circulating in the Commons. There will also be students at each lunch hour collecting donations. For fifth hour, AP Psychology students will visit fifth hours to collect money.

Goal: The goal is to raise $23,000 dollars by the end of the week. To reach their goal, each students needs to bring in just $10 once. “It’s less than going to a movie one time, it’s the same amount as two trips to Starbucks,” Hobbs said.

On Mon. May 8, $2,000 were raised throughout the school day.

As of Fri., May 12, $4,906 had been raised.

Accurate as of May 15, 2017.
