As part of an effort to incorporate community service into PLC Late Start Days, Key Club will host a reverse trick-or-treat this Monday, Oct. 29 from 7:30 to 8:40 a.m. Students who bring in change to the stations (at the gym and main entrances) receive candy. Funds raised benefit Unicef, which provides aid to underprivileged children.
“A lot of change can make a difference,” senior Hayley Valentine, Key Club president, said. “This epitomizes what Key Club is all about, that you can piece little things together to do something big.”
Valentine also said the reverse trick-or-treat is different from what Key Club usually does.
“Usually we just donate time and service,” Valentine said. “The reverse trick-or-treat branches us out in that we’re trying to help in a different way.”
Senior Audrey Moentmann, Key Club vice-president, is the supervisor of the project.
“Key Club members are also going to dress up in costume when we do the reverse trick-or-treat,” Moentmann said. “Come out and see us in costume, donate money to help out children in need, and get candy.”
