Rockwood almost reaches max for snow days

The Rockwood School District experienced a two day school week after a winter storm brought high levels of snow to the St. Louis area.

Chesterfield received a total of eight inches of total snowfall while St. Charles received a total of 9.1 inches, according the National Weather Service. The snow made roads hazardous to travel and inaccessible to some drivers.

AP test dates don’t change because of inclement weather, Eva Johnston, teacher, said. “It’s challenging for students to get caught up but it is wise to call off school to prevent injuries.” Johnston teaches AP U.S. government and AP economics.

Rockwood has used up four of its five snow days that are built in to the Rockwood calendar. The Parkway School District will not have to extend its school year; however, Claymont elementary school and South High will be in session on April 29th for an inclement weather make up day since they have missed more days than other schools in the Parkway district.
