Volunteer hours are easily accessible right on the MHS website. Marquette Key Club is a volunteer group that provides a list of activities and events that can be used to rack up volunteer hours.
Since her freshman year, Kyndra Dennis, junior, has been a part of Key Club, and she plans to continue being a member through senior year. She joined the club to collect volunteer hours.
“It looks better on my resume for college,” Dennis said. “It’ll put me before other applicants.”
Dennis said you have to have a minimum total of 20 service hours to be considered a member, but that there is lots of event to choose from online.
“I feel better about myself knowing that I helped others,” Dennis said.
To join Key Club, sign up forms are available in the nurse’s office. There is a $30 entrance fee that covers some food and transportation costs, along with payment for the group t-shirt. Once a member, events can be signed up for on the Marquette website, under the activities tab. There are also occasional meetings to discuss club business; however these meetings are not mandatory.
