MHS boy’s soccer faced LHS on Thursday, Oct. 14, at their home field. MHS was considered the “underdogs” with a record of eight wins and six losses versus LHS’s twelve wins and three losses.
Though, the Mustangs come out victorious with goals by Will Valentine and Jordan Singer.
The Lancers came out strong to start the game and Zac Walters, midfielder, scored 22 minutes in off a fumble from MHS’s goalie Mark Goldstein.
MHS returned the favor from a serve by Reed Peck, defender, off a penalty kick to Valentine, midfielder, who finished it.
Jordan Singer, forward, scored again for the MHS 6 minutes in to the second half off of a ground ball sent to the middle which he dribbled through to make it a breakaway.
Though LHS pressured the ball hard in the last ten minutes of the game, they were unsuccessful in scoring.
“It was a big win for us because they are a conference and district opponent,” Chris Kenny, boys varsity soccer coach, said.
With a conference record of four and two, Kenny hopes to build off this win.
“The thing about us is we are inconsistent,” Kenny said. “Hopefully we will build off of this to get better and get more confidence.”
