“I’m guessing only half of the student body is going to be here on Friday,” Megan Casserly, junior said.
Casserly plans to go to the boys basketball game at 6:50 p.m. tonight in Columbia, MO. Her dad is driving her and her friends down, but Casserly doesn’t know if she’ll be attending school on Friday.
“I’m probably sleeping in on Friday,” Casserly said. “And if we lose tonight and the next game is on Friday then I definitely won’t be at school.”
Casserly said her teachers have already pushed stuff back.
“I don’t think the game is disrupting the school that much because we don’t do this that often,” Casserly said.
Caitlin Seidel, senior, will also be going to the game. Seidel plans to drive down to Columbia with her friends and stay with her cousins overnight.
“I don’t want to drive back late tonight,” Seidel said. “And I don’t want to go back unnecessarily. It’s better just to make one trip.”
Seidel estimated that less than half of the student population would be at school on Friday, but she agreed that the game isn’t interrupting that much because many teachers are also going down to the game.
“Some of my teachers have moved tests back,” Seidel said. “But if the next game is on Friday, I doubt that all the teachers are going to be here either.
