For any current juniors who are looking for a way to expand their knowledge about the business world, Business Internship/Cooperative Career Education (CCE) class might just be the class for them.
In CCE class, students can earn high school credit by taking the CCE class and working at paid internship positions, Mary Haar, CCE teacher, said.
“[This class] challenges students to maintain continuous employment and overcome workplace obstacles,” Haar said.
This program is only available to seniors who are in good academic, discipline and attendance standing, Haar said.
Haar said students learn about a variety of topics regarding business, such as: marketing, employment, career preparation, communication skills, entrepreneurship, and business ethics and etiquette.
Students who sign up for this class will earn 2 or 3 practical arts credit depending on how many hours they work at their internship job.
To apply for CCE, students should enroll in a 7 class schedule, fill out an application and then return it to rooms 227 or 312 or their guidance counselor. Students must be at least 16 years old and be a senior next school year Haar said. Haar said she will then contact students to schedule in an interview sometime in February or March.
“[Students] academic record indicates that they are capable of doing the work required by the employer, while maintaining their grades in other subjects,” Haar said. “[Students] record shows they are a good school and community citizen, are regular in attendance, and have chosen an occupational interest.”
If a student is accepted into the program, the student will meet with their guidance counselor and change their schedule to include Business Internship/CCE. Haar said she recommends students finish their application by March since the class fills up quickly.
