Single — Our Summer Acoustic Mix

Aside from the five songs on “The Dream Chapter: Star” and an English version of the childlike rap song “Cat and Dog,” there has been radio silence of a new TXT release of any kind on social media. But on May 31, seemingly at random, they released an acoustic mix of “Our Summer,” another song on their first EP.

Ever since Tomorrow X Together (spoken as “Tomorrow by together,” abbreviated as TXT) dropped their debut EP “The Dream Chapter: Star” March 4, fans have been eagerly waiting for more additions to their discography. As Big Hit Entertainment’s newest idol group since the formation of BTS in 2013, TXT has big shoes to fill.

Aside from the five songs on “The Dream Chapter: Star” and an English version of the childlike rap song “Cat and Dog,” there has been radio silence of a new TXT release of any kind on social media. The purpose of the creation of this version is somewhat lost on me. The instrumental is bland and doesn’t go anywhere or do anything special. Most of the vocals are different and have been redone, but only because they’re sang softer to match the new vibe. I thought “Our Summer” was the best track from their first release, but the warm, day-dreamy acoustic version doesn’t do the original much justice.

Overall, lame is the best way to describe this entire single. TXT just finished their first six-city U.S. tour, and they performed this dulled down version instead of the original with no choreography during the tour. Why this drop was so out of the blue on social media is beyond me, but if it was an attempt at holding fans over until brand new music is complete, I wasn’t really convinced.
