Varsity Girls Lacrosse Beats O’Fallon in Home Opener

  • Running up the field with the ball, Katie Morgenthaler (23), sophomore, works to get past the O’Fallon defender. Morgenthaler had five shots on goal and one assist to help MHS win 15-1 against O’Fallon on Friday April 1 at MHS.

  • Trying to win the draw, Marin Lally, freshman, raises her stick and tries to get the ball to a teammate. The draw happens at the beginning of each half and after each goal scored. This is how the game continues and puts the ball back into play. Lally helped the team win with her three shots on goal, and two of those shots went in to score.

  • Madelyn Haas, sophomore, shoots the ball into the goal during MHS’ win over O’Fallon. Haas had four shots on the goal and three of them scored. Haas also had three assists.

  • Passing the ball out from behind the goal, junior Jessica Kellerman (4) passes to freshman Mandy Lawson (13) with hopes to take it onto the offensive. Lawson had one shot on goal that scored and shot 100 percent.

  • Scooping up the ball, senior Jenny Liu avoids the swarm of O’Fallon players. Liu picked the ball up and took it on to the offense. She had five shots on goal and three goals against O’Fallon, and her sister Joyce Liu, junior, had five shots and four goals.

  • Going on to offense, freshman Marin Lally (5) and junior Joyce Liu (2) move up the field. Lally passed the ball up the field in hopes to add on to the already existing lead against O’Fallon. Liu had five shots on goal and four of which went in to score.

  • Raising their sticks in the air, the team ends their halftime meeting and prepares to return to the field. Going into halftime, MHS led O’Fallon 9-1 and would later end up winning 15-1 by the end of the game to start the season off 1-0.

  • Driving up the field, sophomore Madelyn Haas has a swarm of O’Fallon players all around her. Haas needed to get the ball out to a teammate before O’Fallon stole it, so that way there was a chance to tally on another point.
