Right now every student can exempt one final each semester as long as they have an A in that given class. Regardless of the fact that some students have more than one A per semester, they still aren’t allowed to break this rule.
However, the only students allowed to break this rule are seniors in their final semester of the year. The seniors are certified to exempt every classes’ final that they have an A in.
The final is supposed to test what a student knows, but doesn’t an A?
An A in a class shows that a student has completely understood the material that has been taught, so why should they have to take the final?
All a final could do at that point is ultimately mess up that student’s grade if they do not have an above average score.
Why should a student who has put in so much time and effort to earn that exemplary grade have to take a test that could essentially throw all their hard work away? In my opinion, they shouldn’t.
Those students have worked hard, and they should be rewarded, not punished.
If what I am proposing follows through, it would make the value of an A skyrocket in value. Every student would work much harder if they knew that their hard work during the semester would equal a period of relaxation right before the winter and summer break.
I would like to see the administrators pass a rule allowing every single high school student to be allowed to exempt any classes’ final that they have an A in.
