On Tuesday, April 6, the next Board of Education (BOE) election will officially be held, with two spots up for re-election. Seven candidates have filed to run for the spots on the BOE, which has seven incumbent members currently. The Messenger interviewed all of the candidates to see why they decided to run for the BOE.

Jaime Bayes
Recent ROSE award recipient Jaime Bayes has been on the BOE since 2015. Bayes decided to run for re-election this year to improve education and support provided by the RSD. Tamarah Wagner has lived in the RSD area for 10 years, and said the current agenda of the BOE isn’t representative of what the community wants.
