Bookmarks: How Students Mark Their Spots

Sydney Vaccaro, sophomore, is currently reading "One of Us is Lying" by Karen McManus. It's the story of five kids who are brought to detention and one of them dies during the event resulting the other four to be framed in the murder. Vaccaro uses sticky notes as bookmarks and stops at the end of a chapter. “I’m not that much of a reader so I feel like I just use whatever I have and I normally have sticky notes in my backpack,” Vaccaro said.

Ava Frizzell, sophomore, reads "Hidden Girl" and is intrigued by the unfortunate storyline about a girl who loses her freedom to slavery. When Frizzell marks her spot in her book, she uses a sticky note. “I use this bookmarking method because I found something quick and easy,” Frizzell said.

Bryce McCann, senior, is reading "Champion," a dystopian novel by Marie Lu about a peace treaty being imminent, a plague outbreak which then causes panic in the Colonies, and war threatening the Republic’s border cities. His bookmark is a torn out piece of paper from a finished assignment and his reason for this bookmark choice was because of that fact that, "I can not keep track of a normal book mark."

Madeleine Moss, sophomore, reads “Deer man” a memoir about Geoffroy Delorme and his experience living in the wild with deer for seven years. When pausing her reading, Moss uses a blank “Books I’ve Read” bookmark. “I’m not planning to write on it,” Moss said.
