While many students were recuperating from their Spring Break vacations, Chamber Choir went on a cruise from Friday, April 1, to Monday, April 5. “I didn’t get to go on a Spring Break trip so this was kind of the next best thing for me,” Josh Hammack, senior, said. Their “Cruise Festival” was to the Bahamas and schools such as Eureka and Rockwood Summit already went earlier this year. The trip cost each student over $1,000 but they felt it was definitely worth it. “Why would anyone in their right mind turn down a cruise?” Josh Bohm, senior, said. While on the cruise, they went to shows, learned to salsa dance, went to the beach, laid in hammocks and built sand castles, but it wasn’t all fun and games. “We perform our songs and judges score us to help us get a better idea of where we are at as a choir,” Hammack said. The songs they performed were songs they had learned throughout the entire year. “We’re not competing against other choirs, we’re competing against a scoring guide,” Bohm said. Chamber Choir scored a Superior Rating and First Place with a score of 93 out of 100 possible points. Also, the alto section scored Best Sectional. Not only did they come home with a great score, but with fun memories. “The cruise gave us really good bonding time,” Claire Utech, senior said. While Utech said waiting in the airport was the worst part, Laura Meyer, senior, said the best part about the cruise was going to Coco Kay Beach where they relaxed all day. “This cruise was all about getting my GTL on without the gym and laundry,” Meyer said.
