Review: Corner Pub Reopening
My family has been routinely eating at the Corner Pub & Grill for the last 5 years. It’s an option we can all agree on, and we often see families we know.
Both my dad and brother are allergic to gluten, so the Corner Pub offers many options for them. Their gluten-free options aren’t just convenient but tasty, too!
After a burst pipe caused the Corner Pub to close in December, we were excited to see they reopened on Jan. 26.
Along with the pipe repair, the restaurant made a few modifications to the main dining room. The hostess desk moved toward the door to allow for additional tables to be brought in. New TVs were put in to ensure customers can watch the Cardinals or Blues from any table. A few walls got a new coat of paint, and much of their sports decor has remained.
On our first visit after the closure, we ordered gluten-free Buffalo wings and potato skins as appetizers. The wings were saucy and high-quality. My favorite, though, was the potato skins, which are halved potatoes baked with cheese, bacon and green onions. They are the perfect appetizer for cheering on the Cardinals.
For dinner, I ordered a house salad with grilled chicken and the house vinaigrette dressing. It arrived 15 minutes after we ordered, which didn’t feel long at all. The salad was fresh and the grilled chicken was one of my favorites! The Corner Pub grills their chicken perfectly— full of flavor and never overcooked or dry.
I also tried my mom’s steak salad — bibb lettuce topped with grilled steak, blue cheese and crispy onion rings.
The best part about the Corner Pub, aside from the broad menu and delicious food, is the neighborhood feel. Even though there are other locations around the county, the Corner Pub at the corner of Clayton and Clarkson roads feels like a neighborhood original. Marquette, Lafayette and Parkway West items decorate the space.
The new expanded space for dining helps meet the demand of many hungry patrons, and while the space is new and updated, the familiar food we know and love is back.
