Review: New Coffee Shop Serves Up Smiles
Just when you thought your caffeine buzz was wearing off, here comes your next fix! Scooter’s Coffeehas made its way to West County with a recently franchised location at 16001 Manchester Rd. in Ellisville.
It’s a trademark “coffee kiosk,” a small drive-thru-only building that features two drive-thru lanes conveniently located near the highly trafficked intersection of Manchester and Clarkson roads. Of all the times I have gone to Scooter’s, only once was there a line longer than a few cars.
The baristas take orders and get people through the line pretty quickly and they are friendly and accommodating.
Now, onto the coffee.
I’ve tried their Iced White Mocha Latte and their Caramelicious, their signature drink. Both have an extremely sweet flavor, with a subtler coffee taste. I added vanilla flavoring to my medium-sized iced latte, which brought the drink’s price to just under $7.
For the caliber of coffee I’d received, which seemed relatively generic, it was slightly more than I, a broke high school student, would like to pay for 20 ounces of coffee. This isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy it, though, so if your coffee is usually loaded with sweetener, this might cater to your needs.
Scooter’s uses a similar mobile ordering system to its competitors, like Starbucks or Dunkin’, where users can log on, earn rewards points, place mobile orders, etc.
The app lacks a certain amount of user-friendliness, and it’s hard to find out details about your drink, like number of espresso shots or calories. There also aren’t as many options for customizations, like number of flavor pumps, types of add-ins, and extra toppings.
What really intrigued me on the menu was their RedBull Infusions. They come in a range of RedBull flavors and juice options, which vary by location. I opted for The Yellow Edition (Tropical) flavor of RedBull and a raspberry juice base, and was not disappointed. I drank it in way too quickly a span of time and was craving another. They only come in one size and cost just under $6.
They also have non-coffee options like smoothies, matcha and chai. Their smoothies can be made with or without dairy, and they also have a number of other blended coffee options, similar to Starbucks’ Frappuccinos.
Their menu sports a variety of breakfast items too, such as different types of burritos, sandwiches and pastries. I tried their cinnamon roll and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.
Overall, I would give my Scooter’s experiences a total 4/5 stars. The prices are higher than I would have expected, but honestly, you get what you pay for. The experiences I’ve had have always been enjoyable and delicious, and the smiley face stickers they put on every cup always brings one to my face.
