Anti-Pumpkin Fall Snacks

October 24, 2021

For people trying to avoid this fall’s reinstatement of pumpkin flavored and textured foods, here are five items to try this season to still feel included in the trends.

  1. Candy Apple Pretzels – Target

Similar to the taste and texture of yogurt covered pretzels, these candy apple pretzels are a fun fall alternative for $3.69. Although it lacks some of the apple taste found in a candy apple, the caramel taste is still very prevalent. However, if someone is not a fan of yogurt pretzels, I would not recommend these.

  1. Apple Cider Donuts – Dunkin’ Donuts

In contrast to pumpkin spice donuts, apple cider donuts have a stronger flavor with the same sweet donut taste. Although I found the donut quite dense, that isn’t to say it doesn’t deliver on the sugary glaze flavor. However, if you are looking for more of an apple taste, I’d recommend grabbing an apple fritter instead.

  1. Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso – Starbucks

As a fan of any coffee with oat milk, this drink was at the top of my list to try at Starbucks. The brown sugar taste, as with most flavoring in Starbucks coffees, was lost. However, I still think it’s a cold drink to complement the crisp weather for $5.45. If people are looking to warm up in the fall weather, this drink may not be the right choice.

  1. S’mores Trail Mix – Target

I’ve never really cared for the messy nature of authentic s’mores; however, this trail mix perfectly emulates the flavors of this campfire classic without the sticky fingers. With a variety of mini marshmallows, chocolate bites and small graham crackers, one can try to assemble their own small s’mores sandwich for $3.99.

  1. Cinnamon Roll – Daylight Donuts

If one is looking for the perfect mix between a cinnamon roll and a donut, Daylight Donuts has a cinnamon roll donut. It has a soft texture on the edges of the donut without the oven baked crispiness in contrast to traditional cinnamon rolls. If one happens to show up just when a new batch is done, they’re in luck because enjoying these treats warm is best.
