The Rise of Crumbl Cookies
Waiting in the Crumbl Cookie line for an hour, I realized how big of an impact social media, especially TikTok, has on the current edible trends.
The shop attracts customers of all ages, with customers waiting an unreasonable amount of time outside the shop in order to try these famous cookies.
The chain shop originally opened in the Des Peres location on Oct. 29, 2020. Seven months later, their business spiked due to the publicity. I was unaware of this bakery’s creative creations until it was recommended to me by my friends and it appeared on my Tik Tok.
The company has three locations in Missouri, including St. Peters and Columbia as well as locations around the country.
Crumbl Cookies sells four different specialty cookies each week in addition to their staple Milk Chocolate Chip and Chilled Sugar cookies. I had the option to choose from Oatmeal Raisin, Cinnamon Swirl and Chilled Sugar.
My original plan was to taste this array of flavors by trying each of the six cookies, but to my disappointment, two of the cookies, Milk Chocolate Chip and Cosmic Brownie, were sold out.
The cookies are sold individually at $3 a piece, but I was not opposed to spending $10 on a box of four cookies. The quality of the cookies reflect their higher price.
The cookies are pleasingly decorated, which is why I was tempted to buy each one in order to visually take in the aesthetic.
Compared to average store-bought cookies, Crumbl Cookies are wider and thicker, providing more of an impressionable taste.
After tasting my first cookie, Oatmeal Raisin, I knew waiting an hour for the cookies was worth my time. The cookie came warmed, which created a delicious, gooey mixture in the middle from the melted raisins and oatmeal. My tastebuds were overwhelmed with the richness of the cookie.
I was completely satisfied with my initial reaction, but my next cookie, the Chilled Sugar, did not earn my approval.
It came cooled, which was different from the Oatmeal Raisin, and covered with a sweet almond flavored icing. The taste of the cookie resembled a generic sugar cookie, except in a larger size that I was unable to finish.
My final cookie, the Cinnamon Roll, visually and tastefully resembled its inspiration perfectly, with a glazed icing swirled along the top and cinnamon sprinkled throughout the dough.
Although I might not prefer a particular flavor one week, such as the Chilled Sugar, I can look forward to the future possibilities of cookies to taste.
Crumbl Cookies can bake a delicious, original cookie from the inspiration of any food they choose. The originality of the company shines through with their weekly updated menu and new creations.
