Humans of MHS- Brooke Davis, Senior

“I was invited to the National Hispanic Recognition Program. The College Board asks for demographic information and you have to be in the top 1 percent, and you have to be at least ¼ Hispanic. Anyone who scores in that range for a Hispanic demographic gets invited to join the National Hispanic Recognition Program. It’s not an active group that you participate in, but it’s good for scholarships and acceptance for colleges. The invitation came through my email and I was surprised at first. I’m half Cuban and I’ve never had a reward that recognizes me for my ethnicity. At some level it felt awkward because I didn’t want to flaunt the fact that I’m Hispanic just to get an award, but also it felt cool to be recognized for that because my PSAT score was a perfect score,”
