  • Seniors Nick Jensen and Nick Wherry cheer the Stangs on as the first game of the season starts Friday, Aug. 27, at Parkway Central. The Mustangs beat the Parkway Central Colts 48-0.

  • JaQuari Parks, senior, breaks the tackle of the Parkway Central defender and continues on. Later on this drive, the Mustangs scored, adding to their lead, and rushing for 57 yards in 7 attempts.

  • Senior Luke Heldmann, along with other defensive players for the Mustangs, attempts to call the turnover, but the official call is still the Colts’ ball. The defense stopped the Colts offense, and the Stangs took the field.

  • Seniors Luke Heldmann and Benjamin Jones along with other defensive players stop the play behind the line of scrimmage. Stopping them on that drive led to a longer first down needed, and they were stopped before they could get it.

  • The Mustangs special team prepares to kick the extra point, as they hope to tack on more to their lead.

  • Jack Ahlbrand, junior, stays warm on the sidelines as the defense is on the field protecting the lead in the third quarter. The defense stopped Central’s charge, so Ahlbrand and the offense went back out to try and add on more. Ahlbrand was 9 for 14 with 101 passing yards.

  • Joe Porcelli helps keep the team hydrated as he hands number73, sophomore Joe Williams a water bottle. The timeout ends and Porcelli returns to the sidelines with the waters, and the offense lines up to get ready for the next drive.

  • Drew Ellis, junior, holds the ball for Jake Miller, sophomore, to kick the ball through the uprights for the extra point, adding on another point for the Mustangs to extend the lead even more. Jake Miller was one for one the night.

  • The Mustangs walk out to shake hands with the Colts after taking the lead from the start and ending the game 48-0, Mustangs. Next week the Mustangs will take on Eureka at home.
