  • The MHS girls swim team had their last meet against Parkway Central on Jan 24. For the last five years, the team has gone undefeated in their meets.

  • Adjusting her goggles Theresa Santos, freshman, prepares to swim her next relay; meanwhile, Kristen Gollwitzer, senior, waits in anticipation for the incoming swimmer.

  • While Lauren Berning, senior, prepares to swim a 100-meter back, Abby Bomball, junior, shares the heat sheet of upcoming events with the team. Bomball was unable to participate in this final meet due to a shoulder injury.

  • Senior Allyson Cochran and sophomore Haley Hume swim side by side. Usually team members are not allowed to swim in adjacent lanes, but coaches can request a “JV heat” where team members can swim just for time and are not recorded for heat.

  • Sarah Rosson, senior, swims in a 100-meter breast event. Rosson has been on the team for all four years of her high school career.

  • Diving into the pool, Amanda Yu, junior, begins her 100-meter breast event. She reflected over the various events she swam this meet. “I am happy with how I performed, but right now we are working towards State, which has been the primary focus of the season,” Yu said.

  • Abigail Nebot, senior, swims a 100-meter breast in her last swim meet of the year. Girls swim and dive will compete on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. MHS will battle for a championship title against about 40 other teams.
