Izzy Imig won 27.6% of the votes, while Jessica Clark was a close second with 23.8% of the votes.

The RSD Board of Education results are in: Izzy Imig and Jessica Clark, both conservative electees, won the two open seats.

Imig, who amassed more than $32,000 in campaign donations, was the most-popular electee, with 27.6 percent of votes, while Clark was a close second, with 23.8 percent. Behind the two were left-leaning candidates Deborah Stine and Amy Ryan, with their respective results of 22.1% and 21.9% of votes.

“I am in shock. I have a strong support system who supports me, and even if they don’t necessarily agree with my beliefs, they respect my character,” Clark said.

I want to be a bridge between parents and their schools and administration.

For the past few years, debates around critical race theory in the district have emerged. The critical race theory is an academic concept that revolves around the idea that racism is not just a prejudice or bias, but it is embedded into legal systems as well.

Other popular topics of debate have been mask mandates, COVID regulations, the incorporation of sexuality into RSD’s curriculum and Proposition P, a plan to redistribute funds within the district, which did not meet the 50% of +1 requirement needed to pass.

“I want to be a bridge between parents and their schools and administration,” Clark said. “My first plan is to build a strong relationship with the other board members and superintendent.”

Earlier this year, the RSD Board of Education selected Dr. Curtis Cain, to be the districts new superintendent. Curtis is set to take office this July.

Both Clark and Imig will take an oath of office during the Board of Education reorganization meeting 7 p.m. tonight
