  • MHS German III, IV and V classes went on a field trip to the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center on Nov. 8 to learn about the thirtieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall through a dance concert and an informational exhibit. “Both were very good in giving us a different aspect of the Berlin Wall. I think it’s really important to keep that memory alive,” Kimberly Hotze, German teacher, said.

  • Dancers from Modern American Dance Company (MADCO) pose on stage after performing their modern dance program, “Wallstories,” a commemoration to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the people affected by it.

  • Junior Tyler Ray and sophomores Kelton Pumi, Eric Biever and Blake Geisler enjoy their German lunches at the Hofbrauhaus. “I thought the food was really good because of its authenticity, and we don’t taste anything else like it in St. Louis,” Ray said.

  • Sophomores Olivia Langbehn, Carlen Hite, Sydney Nichols, Maddi Gwinner and Olivia Walters and juniors Viswasri Aleti and Gabby McCall play Uno and Connect 4 while waiting for their food at the Hofbrauhaus. “I really enjoyed the sense of community we have built within the German classes, and I also enjoyed doing something while we wait for our food instead of all being on our phones,” Langbehn said.

  • After their visit to the Blanche M Touhill Performing Arts Center, German III, IV and V students pose after eating lunch at the Hofbrauhaus in Belleville, Ill., a German brewery and restaurant.

  • Students from MHS, Francis Howell Central and other schools watch the MADCO dancers during a live Q&A session following the performance.
