Senior takes advantage of home recording studio

Drums: check.

Guitars: check.

Microphones: check.

Plug these instruments into a PA system that runs into a sound-proofed room with a 13 channel mixing board and a computer equipped to meet all your audio recording needs, and you’ve got the basement of Jesse Maragliano, senior.

For about five years now, Maragliano has had his own personal recording studio just a few stairs away.

“My dad really loves music so he thought he’d take up being a recording engineer as a hobby,” Maragliano said. “And now it’s been there for about five years.”

The studio has been rented out to other bands on a few occasions, Maragliano said.

Maragliano, a musician himself, said that for him as well as his dad, the studio is a dream come true. He said he thinks it will help boost the career of his band, Hear Me Roar.

Hear Me Roar has used Maragliano’s studio to record and mix there own work. Maragliano said that he and his drummer, Steve Lennartz, work together to mix what they’ve recorded.

“We find common ground on what we think everything should sound like,” Maragliano said.

Maragliano uses Sonar Producer 6, along with Sonar 7 XL package, as his editing software. He said the studio gives his band a good head start over other up-and-coming acts.

“Having the studio is a huge advantage,” Maragliano said. “Being able to be our own independent label and having a place to practice constantly is a thing that some bands can only dream about.”
